Juan D. Parra, M.D. received his medical degree from the Javeriana University Medical School, in Bogota, Colombia where he is originally from. He then went on to complete his residency in general surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. He stayed there as clinical assistant professor in the same institution until 2011.
Dr. Parra has published several articles and done research on minimally invasive surgery and gastro-esophageal reflux disease. He has strong interest in gastrointestinal surgery, complex abdominal wall hernia surgery, as well as benign and malignant colorectal disease treatment.
Dr. Parra is a board-certified general surgeon as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
When Dr. Parra isn’t at work he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two daughters. They love to travel, particularly back home to visit family. He enjoys many recreational activities like dancing, basketball, and his weekly soccer match.
John S. Visger, MD received his undergraduate degree from the University of Akron and completed medical school at Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine. He completed his surgical residency at the Western Reserve Care System in Youngstown, Ohio. Following his residency he spent time in the military serving in the United States Air Force.
Dr. Visger is a board-certified general surgeon as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His special surgical interests include thyroid, breast cancer, laparoscopic cases, and robotic procedures.
When he isn’t in the O.R., Dr. Visger enjoys spending time with his wife Cherish and their 5 children. Along with traveling and site-seeing new places.
Jeffrey D. Jones, MD received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and his Doctorate from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He served his internship with the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics as well as Chief Residency at Minneapolis VA Medical Center. Following that, he also went on to complete his gastroenterology fellowship with the University of Utah Hospitals in 1995.
Dr. Jones is board-certified in internal medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. He has operated his own private practice in Colfax, WA for many years prior to joining the team here at Palouse Surgeons. He is always advancing his education and attends the American College of Gastroenterology annually. Dr. Jones performs all our GI procedures and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of GI care to the Palouse.
His hobbies include spending time with his wife and two children, and their puppy Lola. He enjoys reading American history – about the Civil and Revolutionary Wars in particular. He and his wife enjoy vacationing to Hawaii and he always has time for a good joke.
Richard M. Malyszek, MD graduated from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1996. From there he went on to complete his surgical residency at the Graduate Hospital, also in Philadelphia.
Dr. Malyszek spent eight years as a surgeon in the US Military, as well as being Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at Pikes Peak Regional Hospital for six years. Dr. Malyszek is a board-certified general surgeon as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and we are lucky to have him here on the Palouse.
Aside from practicing medicine, Dr. Malyszek enjoys spending time with his wife and children, fly fishing, and other various outdoor recreational activities. Dr. Malyszek is no stranger to the Palouse as he spent some time previously with Palouse Surgeons and is eager to be back serving our community.
Dr. Panko was born and raised in Anchorage, AK. She attended the University of Washington for medical school (WWAMI) and then did her general surgery residency in Chicago at St Joseph Hospital. She then completed her advanced GI and minimally invasive surgery fellowship in Houston at UT. Dr. Panko came to the Palouse because she wanted to find a place in the Pacific Northwest with all the outdoor activities her and her family enjoy. From a professional standpoint, she loves all things general surgery but especially has an interest in advanced GI laparoscopy. In her spare time she enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, running, horseback riding, and yoga.
Kati Haeder, RN received her bachelor of Science in Nursing from Washington State University. Kati has been a registered nurse for over 20 years and has been with Palouse Surgeons for 6 years. She was the director of Family Birth Center at Gritman Medical Center for many years before joining Palouse Surgeons.
Kati is now our aesthetics and laser service provider and we are excited to have her. Outside of work Kati enjoys spending time with her family. Her hobbies include camping, boating, fly fishing, skiing, cooking and traveling.
Lindy Wells, CMPE received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado where she also played women’s basketball. Lindy is board-certified through the American College of Medical Practice Executives and is currently pursuing fellowship. She has many years of experience in the medical field. Lindy also brings a great knowledge of growth and structure to our practice. In her free time, Lindy enjoys running, spinning and spending time with her husband Guy and their 3 children.
