Surgery to remove the appendix. Can be done open with a larger incision in the lower right side of the abdomen or laparoscopically using 3-4 small incisions.

Surgery to remove part of all of the stomach. Depending on which part of the stomach is removed, the intestines may be reconnected to the remaining parts of the stomach or to the esophagus.

Nissen fundoplication:

Surgical treatment for GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) that is unresponsive to lifestyle changes and medical therapy. GERD is caused by a weakening in the lower esophageal sphincter. During this procedure, the top portion of the stomach is wrapped around the bottom portion of the esophagus to help reinforce the sphincter and reduce acid reflux.

Small bowel resection:

If done open an incision will be made in the mid-belly then the diseased or blocked portion of the small bowel is located and removed. If done laparoscopically 3-5 small incisions will be made in the lower belly and a scope will be inserted to find the diseased or blocked portion of the small bowel. Once located, it is removed. After surgery the ends of the healthy small bowel left will be reattached.

Large bowel resection:

Surgery to remove part or the entire large bowel. This procedure can be done open or laparoscopically. If done open an incision will be made in the mid-belly then the diseased or blocked portion of the large bowel is located and removed. If done laparoscopically 3-5 small incisions will be made in the lower belly and a scope will be inserted to find the diseased or blocked portion of the large bowel. Once located, it is removed. After surgery the ends of the healthy large bowel left will be reattached.

Hemorrhoidectomy:
